Russian export opportunities in Libya

The first Russian-Libyan forum “Russian export opportunities” took place in Tripoli on April 22-23, 2007.

The opening ceremony was held in Dhat El Emad Complex, Tripoli. The head of the Russian delegation Mr.Ara Abramyan delivered a welcoming speech wishing all the participants success and profitable cooperation within the forum’s framework. After the ceremony all the guests including more than 100 Libyan top officials and businessmen went to the conference-hall, where the business part of the Forum took place. Welcoming speeches were made by Mr. Valerian Shuvaev, the Ambassador of Russian Federation in Libya and Mr. Alexander Maksimov, the chief expert of the Department of Exhibitions and Fairs of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. All the speakers agreed that all the necessary conditions were present for developing and strengthening the Russian-Libyan business cooperation. In the end Mr. Maksimov read the message of the Russian CCI President H.E.Eugeniy Primakov.

After a short coffee-break, a number of key companies and organizations gave talks and made presentations, including Lukoil Overseas, UralVagonZavod, Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, and Chetra Industrial Machines.

Later Mr. Abramyan held an official reception on behalf of the Russian delegation where usinessmen and officials of both countries had an opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest in detail.

On the 23rd of April, the delegation received certificates from Mr. Shuvaev the Ambassador of the Russian Federation and took part in the reception held in the Embassy, where a Diploma signed by the Ambassador was delivered to Lukoil for its contribution to the development of the Russian-Libyan economic relations.
