Ajman Chamber receives a Russian economic delegation to discuss aspects of cooperation

The Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry received a Russian economic delegation to discuss the economic relations between the two sides and to open new channels of communication in all commercial, industrial and tourism areas. This comes within the framework of enhancing the foreign cooperation and creating new investment opportunities for businessmen, as well as opening up new markets and promoting the local industries. It also allows exchange of views and ideas so as to enhance the economic capabilities of the two parties.

The delegation was received by Hamad Rashid Al Nuaimi, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ajman Chamber, Salem Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Chamber, Mohammed Al Janahi, Executive Director of Investment and Business Development Sector, and Abdullah Omar Al-Marzouki, executive director of membership registration and transactions services, as well as number of heads of departments.

The Russian delegation included Stanislav Yankovets, Director General of the Russian-Arab Business Council, Vladimir Nefedov, Minister of Industry and Innovation of the Nizhny Novgorod, Vladimir Katenev, Chairman of Saint Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vladimir Zubov Chairman of Pskov Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting was also attended by a number of representatives of government departments and major companies and factories of the private sector in the Emirate of Ajman.

The two parties discussed a number of opportunities for mutual cooperation in trade and business areas, which will significantly boost the economic activity between both sides. The meeting featured a preview to the emirate’s extent of the economic development and the commitment of the government to provide an integrated structure supporting the local economy and investors. The Ajman’s economic trends come under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, and follow up of HH Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, in all fields of industry, trade and tourism, the delegation was told.

Sheikha Al Nuaimi, director of the promotion and investment attraction, presented an overview about the Ajman Chamber, and the emirate as a whole. She pointed out that the number of the chamber’s members reached 27,800, while number of factories reached 752 in 2013. Additionally, a documentary film presenting the opportunities of commercial, industrial and tourism sectors of Ajman was shown to the visiting delegation.

For their part, the visiting delegation stressed the importance of the visit for both sides, pointing to the need to strengthen the cooperation with Ajman, especially in light of the ongoing prosperity and progress being witnessed by it. They offered the hosting party to visit Russia, as well as the International Forum for Investment and the Trade and Tourism Fair “Touristika” which will be held in Southern Russia in April.

In the meantime, the representatives of the companies briefed the delegation on their business and the most important projects being constructed in Ajman.

Memorandum of Understanding

During the visit, the Ajman Chamber and Pskov Chamber inked an MoU, which came to consolidate the relations and cooperation between the parties. It will serve businessmen and investors, and increases the size of the economic cooperation between both sides.

Russian Businessweek

The visit of the Russian delegation to Ajman became part of the agenda of the Russian Businessweek in the UAE that took place in February 8-14, 2014. Representatives of Russian business and investment circles held a number of important meetings in Ajman, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi, and took part in the Russia-GCC business forum held in Dubai.
